Joellyn Schneider was proof that you don’t have to wear a cape or even be able to walk to be a hero. She was the victim of a horrible accident that left her confined to a wheelchair with limited mental capacity; yet, one thing the accident couldn’t take from her was her wit and her ability to make people smile. She survived for roughly 36 years after the accident, which was 34 years beyond her doctors’ expectations. She is survived by the love of her life, her angel, and her biggest fan, who is also my father. Having JoJo in my life was the greatest gift I could have asked for because her tragedy, her recovery, her attitude on life was a constant reminder to me that no matter how bad I think things are, I should never think I’m a victim.
